Meet the Woman Behind Qualcan: Maggie Madrid
🌱 Director of Cultivation 🌱
When you think about premium cannabis, you don’t always get to see the hands behind it. But at Qualcan, those hands belong to Maggie Madrid, our Director of Cultivation, who has spent over a decade mastering the art of growing exceptional cannabis.
Maggie has been in the cannabis industry for just over 10 years. She began her journey when Medical Marijuana became legal in Nevada and started her career learning all aspect of the cannabis industry. She quickly grew to love the intricate workings of the cannabis industry and the cultivation process. It wasn’t long before she was promoted to Head Grower at Qualcan and now Director of Cultivation for Qualcan and Tonopah Farm.
Maggie loves all stages of the plant cycle, from cutting a clone and watching it grow, to the day its harvested; but her favorite stage to oversee is the cloning process. It is still amazing to see a small cut taken from a mother plant and watching it grow its own roots to live and thrive into its own plant. After years of cultivating and much trial and error two of her favorite strains to grow and smoke are Tropicana Cherry and her namesake Maggie’s Mimosa.
Maggie is grateful to be where she is today and all the opportunities the cannabis industry has awarded her and cannot wait to see what the years ahead will bring.

At Jade, women aren’t just behind the scenes—they’re running the show.
Shelby Nelson, Regional Manager of Jade Dispensary. Born and raised in Las Vegas, Shelby has been an integral part of the cannabis industry since 2016, starting as a budtender when the market was still medical. She played a key role in the transition to recreational sales, gaining hands-on experience in nearly every aspect of the industry, from inventory control and compliance to marketing and training.
Now serving as the Regional Manager of Jade Dispensary, she helps oversee operations across multiple locations, ensuring efficiency while maintaining the culture and community that make the industry so unique. With a deep passion for the plant itself, she enjoys working with like-minded individuals and thrives in an environment where education, advocacy, and access to quality cannabis remain top priorities.
